Mizuno continues to solidify its position as the world’s best forged wedge company with two different wedge styles; the MP T Series featuring a teardrop head shape, and the MP R Series featuring a classic, round head shape. All the Mizuno wedges utilize our patented Grain Flow Forging™ process to offer the most solid, soft, and consistent feel available. Furthermore, all Mizuno forged wedges feature computer milled, deep U grooves for optimum spin and a lie responsive sole design for consistent ball striking from any lie on the course.

In order to select the proper wedges for your set make-up, there are 2 things to consider:

  1. Choosing loft and bounce
Your pitching wedge loft determines need for a gap wedge and what loft your gap wedge and sand wedge should be in order to cover distance gaps properly. For example: 47 degree PW and 56 degree SW requires a 51 or 53 degree Gap wedge. Your swing also determines the type of sole design. A shallow angle of attack would favor lower bounce wedges. A neutral to steep angle of attack would favor a mid to high bounce option. Turf and sand conditions play a part in wedge selection as well. A mid bounce wedge is a good option for a variety of conditions. A low bounce wedge is suited for firmer turf and sand. A high bounce wedge is suited for plush turf and fluffier sand.
  2. Choosing MP-Series or MP-T Series
The original MP-series features a classic round shape with a standard headsize and a slight amount of offset. The new MP-T Series features a classic teardrop shape with a standard headsize and minimal offset. Choosing a model should be based purely on the player's preference for head shape and offset. Both models are equally forgiving and have a lie responsive sole design which provides the appropriate amount of bounce and camber in the center of the sole and very generous heel, toe and trailing edge relief for shot versatility.
